বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর ১৯১২ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে ইংল্যান্ডে গমনকালে জাহাজে বসেই বাংলা ‘গীতাঞ্জলী’ ও অন্যান্য কাব্য থেকে কিছু কবিতা ইংরেজিতে অনুবাদ করেন। সেগুলো Song Offerings নামে ১৯১২ - র নভেম্বরে ইংল্যান্ডেই প্রকাশিত হয় এবং ঐ গ্রন্থের আলোকেই ১৯১৩ সালে তিনি সাহিত্যে নোবেল পুরস্কার লাভ করেন।
